Ing. Mark Osei-Akoto, Director in charge of Cast House Department, "The Window to VALCO’s core business", in that VALCO’s final products (Sows, Billet, Rolling and Foundry Ingots) are shipped to customers, locally and externally, from the department. This is done to meet or exceed the customers' quality and delivery expectations.

Mark is a hardworking engineer with over 17 years of experience in industrial operations. He was posted to VALCO and assigned to Potrooms (now Cell Lines) as National Service personnel in 1990. He was immediately hired, upon completion in 1991, as an Assistant Manager. He was thoroughly trained to understand the art and science of the Aluminum reduction process. He was part of the team that prepared and successfully restarted the Plant in 2011. Within that same year, he earned a promotion as the Cell Line’s Staff Engineer. In addition, he also received the title of Pot Tuner. Until his transfer to Cast House in February 2021 to understudy and replace the outgoing director, he dedicated his time and energy to the successful running of Cell Line operations. He helped to train some of the young engineers and operators currently running the Cell Lines. He often acted as the Director of Cell Lines, in the absence of the substantive Director.

He holds a holder of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also holds certifications in ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and has received certificates of participation in Effective Safety Leadership for organizational Safety, Labor Management Relations, Emotional Intelligence and Pensions Administration. He is also licensed to operate as an Individual Trustee under the National Pension Act, 2008 (Act 766).

Mark Osei-Akoto is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GHIE).
